Terbium Nitrate Hydrate Tb(NO3)3 5H2O CAS 57584-27-7 For Fluorescent Compounds

Terbium nitrate is a colorless crystalline solid, soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and esters. It has high thermal stability in air, but will decompose at high temperatures. Terbium nitrate plays an important role in the fractional crystallization separation of rare earth elements, and can also be used to prepare rare earth element complexes. In addition, it has a wide range of applications in optical and magnetic materials, and can be used to manufacture phosphors, optical glasses, ceramics and magnetic materials. However, terbium nitrate is corrosive and toxic and requires appropriate protective measures and compliance with relevant safety regulations when used. Waste needs to be handled in accordance with local regulations to ensure that it does not pose a hazard to the environment.

Description: Terbium nitrate is a colorless monoclinic crystal, which decomposes at high temperature and can be dissolved in water, ethanol, acetone and esters. It can be extracted into organic solvent phase by Tributyl phosphate. Its anhydrous salt is easily soluble in anhydrous amine, nitrile and other polar organic solvents. The preparation method is to dissolve terbium metal in nitric acid, or to react terbium oxide with nitric acid, and to crystallize terbium nitrate hydrate from aqueous solution.

Uses: Terbium nitrate reacts with 1,1,1′,1′ - tetra (pyridine-2-carboxylic acid ester) trimethylpropane to form a complex of [Tbl(NO3)](NO3)2 · 2H2O. Under the excitation of ultraviolet light, the complex emits strong Tb3+ characteristic fluorescence. The fluorescence lifetime of Tb3+ 5D4 level in the complex is longer. Terbium oxide assembled carbon nanotube composite.
