Neodymium nitrate is an inorganic compound with the formula Nd(NO₃)₃, the most common of which is hexahydrate. Neodymium nitrate is a pink crystal, easily soluble in water and ethanol, with delixizing properties, should be sealed storage. It has a wide range of industrial applications, such as the manufacture of ternary catalysts, glass colorants, magnetic materials and neodymium compound intermediates. When used as a glass colorant, neodymium nitrate can change the glass from light blue to bluish-purple with the increase of the amount introduced, and it is bluish-purple in sunlight, also known as rose red. In addition, neodymium nitrate is also used in the preparation of some pesticide bactericidal emulsions.

Description: There are two variants of neodymium nitrate, α and β, and the transition temperature is about 22 ℃. Soluble in water and ethanol, easy to absorb moisture. Anhydrous salt is formed by vacuum dehydration, and decomposes by strong heat. It is easy to form complex salt with other nitrates. The preparation method of neodymium nitrate is to heat neodymium oxide to high temperature and then dissolve it in nitric acid, and then evaporate and concentrate it to obtain five or six water salts.

Uses: Neodymium nitrate solution, as a colorant for glass, has no special requirements for the melting of glass. The introduction of a small amount of selenium powder to increase the red tone of the glass, especially at night, can make up for the weakening of the red tone of the neodymium glass, keep the beautiful purple red, at the same time, reduce the amount of Nd2O3, so as to reduce the cost of glass.
