Molybdenum(VI) Oxide MoO3 CAS 1313-27-5 For the Production of Metallic Molybdenum

Molybdenum oxide is an important inorganic compound, usually in yellow crystals or powders. It has a wide range of applications in industry and scientific research. As a catalyst, molybdenum oxide can catalyze a variety of reactions in chemical production, such as oxidative desulfurization and hydrocarbon cracking. It is also an important raw material for the manufacture of molybdenum metal and other molybdenum compounds. In addition, molybdenum oxide is often used as a fireproof material because of its high melting point and excellent high temperature resistance. Molybdenum oxide shows good performance as a cathode material in lithium-ion batteries. At the same time, it can also be used to prepare optical materials and ceramic pigments.

    product detail

Name: Molybdenum(VI) Oxide, Molybdenum trioxide                             Molecular formula: MoO3

    CAS: 1313-27-5                                                                                          Molecular weight: 143.94

Description: Molybdenum trioxide, also known as molybdenum anhydride, has a molecular weight of 143.94. White transparent rhombic crystal with a slight light green color, turns yellow when heated, and returns to its original color after cooling. Density 4.692g/cm3, melting point 795 ℃, boiling point 1155 ℃, easy to sublimate. Insoluble in water, soluble in ammonia water and strong alkaline solutions, forming molybdate. Dissolve in strong acids, generate complex cations of molybdenum dioxide (MoO22+) and molybdenum oxide (MoO4+), and form soluble complexes with acid ions. Extremely weak in oxidizing properties, it can be reduced by hydrogen, carbon, and aluminum at high temperatures. Reacting with phosphoric acid can generate phosphomolybdic acid.
